Mary Poppins’ Carpet Bag… Cat Size!

It was a lazy Sunday and I spent half the day editing photos and the other half of the day working on Ponette’s carpet bag. I spent a long time researching the actual bag in the movie – photos, youtube videos, etc. The fabric is from Joann’s and I have to say I was so lucky to find this in the clearance section! I used scrap fabric first and started cutting pieces up and taping them together until I figured out the right shape, then I cut up the tapestry fabric. Boy does that stuff fray…

8 hours later et voila! It measures about 7″ and I did NOT line it, lol. I also didn’t have a small enough buckle so I made a little faux buckle leather loop instead. It’s fabric, a piece of cardboard (to hold the shape in the bottom), brown lambskin leather (handles, straps), and pipe cleaners (frame). Can’t believe I finished it in a day!
